We started the day by bringing our flower leis to my father’s grave at Punchbowl National Cemetery. When we visited the Japanese cemetery in Wainae, my Mom and I argued about the food left at the grave sites. She was angry that the Buddhist would leave this food and I tried to explain that it was a symbolic act of respect and the ancestors were not going to come out of the ground at night and peel and eat that orange. It was interesting that we saw a gravesite at Punchbowl that had two empty bottles of Primo beer and I ask my Mom who she thought drank those beers? Anyway, a photo of diamond head from punchbowl and some misc. headstones.
